Caught in Between
02:28
|

The bus pulled from Lucy’s Crossroad
The kids play kick the can for a long run
Then say goodbye, head for home
Our dust settles with the sun
I got a job with The Company
Drew up blueprints, hired some big machines
Complete a vision of concrete and condos
Diggin’ for golden opportunity
I’m at the crosswalk the man flashes 1 2 3
I’m caught up in the scenery
Blackberry sing I’m an urban king
And I’m caught in between
Recall racing Cody barefoot to the bridge
We’d throw rocks and try to make the biggest splash
Flash back to my office window
In time for break I gotta dash...
I’m at Lucy Street and William Avenue
Sip from my latte look both ways and try to cross
Then some jackass in charger runs the red
And he flips me off
I’m at the crosswalk the man flashes 1 2 3
I’m caught up in the scenery
My work looms tall I look and stall
And I’m caught in between
The cars and the people move quick quick quick
This epiphany it’s hittin’ me like a brick
I got what I wanted but I don’t feel whole
Cause when these potholes were paved so was my soul…
I’m at the crosswalk the man flashes 1 2 3
I’m caught up in the scenery
My work looms tall I look and stall
And I’m caught in between
I’m at the crosswalk the man flashes 1 2 3
I’m caught up in the scenery
Blackberry sing I’m an urban king
And I’m caught in between

Mosh Pit
01:55
|

If my words of hurt had legs
They’d walk in figure eights
But instead they float through your head
And into outer space
And I’m feelin’ funny inside
I think I might just cry
So I’ll make my way to shakedown street
I might as well get high
But I got one look at the vendor
Another look at my 80 dollars
Turned around walked into the crowd
Cause I remembered what I’m here for
I’m gonna mend my heart in a mosh pit
My face smothered in somebody’s arm pit
My shirt soaked in other people’s sweat
I’m high but I’m dry but this time it’s worth it
Well Elvis took barbiturates
Hank liked more than whiskey
Just gimme music please and anonymity
To get me back on my feet
Cause I need to get knocked off my feet
To appreciate the ground beneath
Being crushed by a thousand bodies
Reminds me how much I love to breathe
I’m gonna mend my heart in a mosh pit
My face smothered in somebody’s arm pit
My shirt soaked in other people’s sweat
I’m high but I’m dry but this time it’s worth it
Now I’m charcoal between a finger and paper
I’m rosin on a bow
It hurts right now in the end
It’s gonna make me beautiful
With new confidence I say to these guys,
“Hey Lift me up”
And I’m floating forward on this current
It’s my world and I’m on top.
I’m gonna mend my heart in a mosh pit
My face smothered in somebody’s arm pit
My shirt soaked in other people’s sweat
I’m high but I’m dry but this time it’s worth it

E. S. Waltz

An age old tale of love
A bitter red sky in the morning
Loaning her that pencil knocked him straight
Into uncharted waters take warning
A foreign tongue in that first French kiss
A leak in this sailboat of bliss
They both knew it would end inevitably
Infatuations burial at sea
And I’d give him a pencil to write her name
But it won’t build a bridge across the oh…
Ocean blue…
Now he’s seeing her off at the airport
A promise to visit is made
But they both know he’s stuck in this town
On part time and minimum wage
In the end was it worth it?
Such a dangerous experiment
His mind pushes cloud nine away
While his soul it grasps at rain
And I’d give him a pencil to write her name
But it won’t build a bridge across the oh…
Ocean blue…
He wonders as her plane takes off
If in 50 years she’ll find that pencil she lost…
And I’d give him a pencil to write her name
But it won’t build a bridge across the oh…
Ocean blue…
And they’ll be together a loose love knot in time
Another birthmark on the ghost
Of bold youth…

My Midnight
03:53
|
|||
The first thing I see when I open my eyes
Is that Demon's eyes disguised as 12 o’clock
I pull off my sheets sit up and rub away my sleep
Turn the light on cuz it's time to…
There's a pen on my table some words in my brain
Scrap paper now I just need to put them all together
My muse sit around me mocking the way I write about her
Until I look at the page and I have to start all over
And she's my my my my midnight
She's not getting away this time
I still have 8 hours before I should be in bed
And midnight disappears
She's messed with my mind over a million times
Tonight I'll fight her until that message is clear
And she's my my my my midnight
She's not getting away this time
So I know that all she wants to do is tease
If I cup her in my hand she’ll cease to be
She's an Iron Maiden torturing my being
But she's here and I'm so glad she's….
My my my my midnight
She's not getting away this time
Yeah she's my my my my midnight
She's not getting away this time
She's here and I'm so glad she's mine X3

House on Shelbourne St.
02:47
|
|||
I’m browsin’ through Craigslist tryin’ to find
A 4 bedroom house for September at an affordable price
Found one finally for me and my friends
It’s this ugly squat beast with a broken picket fence
Oh that house on Shelbourne St was stuccoed and gray
The living room an kitchen are one an the same
We’d rather freeze than pay for the electric heat
But hey y’know at least the rent...it’s cheap
Life there was about as simple as stir fry
An unpredictable diet of trying to survive
We’ve got stories about cracks and mold and creaks
A variety of leaks
Not to mention extra socks and coats for when we’d try to sleep
After a year we just wanted to burn the place down
But we panicked when the landlord said, “One month and you’re out”
Oh that house on Shelbourne St was stuccoed and gray
The living room an kitchen are one an the same
We’d rather freeze than pay for the electric heat
But hey y’know at least the rent...it’s cheap
You know it’s nice to be inside when you hear the rain
And that old house holds memories for me and my room mates
So I tried to feel upset as we hit the road
Movin’ down a few blocks to Pembroke
Guess you live anywhere a while with the right family
And you’ll realize a lot is not what you need
Oh that house on Shelbourne St was stuccoed and gray
The living room an kitchen are one an the same
We’d rather freeze than pay for the electric heat
But hey y’know at least the rent...it’s cheap

Sweaters
02:48
|
|||
Not much to do today
Just work, eat, maybe play
And a lot of sleep
Cause I’ve got a lot of dreams
I lift my head from the pillow
My backpack’s lit up with a halo
From the light, slipping through the window
I want to go…
But for now I’m stuck
Here folding sweaters
Lamb’s wool, merino wool
Cashmere and cotton and oh…
I guess everyone’s on summer vacation
Cause customers give me such dramatic explanations
Of what they’ve done and will do
Sometimes they ask how about you
4 more weeks of saving
And I’ll purchase the ticket for the adventure I’m craving
The bus will pull up, I’ll step on
And then I’ll be gone
But for now I’m stuck
Here folding sweaters
Lamb’s wool, merino wool
Cashmere and cotton and oh…
And it’s button up 1 2 3 4
I look frumpy, I look funny judging by the mirror
I’m not meant for this position
It’s just a transition
I don’t fit this cardigan
But for now I’m stuck
Here folding sweaters
Lamb’s wool, merino wool
Cashmere and cotton and oh…
